LEGAL AID CDS GROUP CALLS FOR SUPPORT


In a recent seminar held at the Mediation Centre, Ministry of Justice, Ibadan on 6th April, 2016, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Olufumilayo Akin Moses, hosted the Corps Legal Aid CDS Group and senior colleagues in the Ministry of Justice and Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Oyo State, on the theme, “The Roles of Corps Legal Aid CDS Group in Human Right Advocacy and Prison Decongestion in Nigeria”
The programme welcomed top dignitaries in the Legal field, who shared light on the importance of the Corps members to participate in legal aid. In her opening remarks, Mrs. Akin Moses who was represented by the Assistant Director, Community Development Service (AD, CDS), Mrs. M.O Umogah, commended the corps members' Legal Aid CDS Group for a job well-done and also the senior colleagues in the Ministry of Justice for assisting them.
The aim of the programme according to the speakers, who presented the seminar, was to motivate corps members, especially lawyers, to see the need and participate in the provision of legal aid to indigent members of society, particularly those in Police custody and prisons.
There was more importantly, a call for support to the Corps Legal Aid CDS Group to enable them function in the right capacity.
