Natural
oils are not useful for cooking only. They are very good for your hair. They
add moisture and shine to your hair and they also nourish the scalp, helping to
reduce dandruff. Most importantly, using
natural oils on your hair will make your hair grow faster and healthier.
Whatever your hair type, you can find a natural oil that will work for your
hair. These are five of the best natural oils for hair:
1) Coconut
Oil
Not
only does coconut have a great smell, it is very good for your hair. Coconut
oil is high in vitamin E and other nutrients and your hair can absorb all of
them. Continued use of coconut oil leads to thicker, shinier and healthier hair
that has strong roots. The lauric and capric acid it contains also makes your
scalp healthier and prevents itchy scalp and infections. To get the maximum
effect from coconut oil, make sure you get the extra-virgin kind.
2) Argan Oil
Although
Argan oil is the most expensive of the hair oils, it is worth every kobo you
spend buying it. Argan oil contains a lot of vitamin E, Omega 3 and 9 fatty
acids and antioxidants. All these juicy nutrients work wonders for damaged, dry
and coarse hair.
3) Extra-virgin Olive Oil
Many
of us are familiar with the benefits of using olive oil when cooking,
especially when frying, but we don't know that the same olive oil can be used
as a deep moisturising treatment and to promote hair growth. When you massage
your scalp with olive oil, your scalp becomes healthier and circulation is
improved. You will be left with hair that is softer and smoother as the end
result.
4) Rosemary
Essential Oil
This
oil is great for those who have hair that is thinning. Thinning hair tends to
hold in more dirt and toxins and rosemary essential oil helps to cleanse the
hair. It contains a lot of vitamin B, iron and calcium which are also very good
for the hair. Not only does it strengthen thinning or brittle hair, it has been
scientifically proven that it prevents premature graying of the hair. It is
important to dilute rosemary essential oil with a carrier oil like extra-virgin
olive oil before using it as it tends to be very concentrated.
5) Jojoba Oil
Unlike
all the other natural oils, jojoba oil is not actually an oil. It is a
liquefied wax that is extracted from a shrub common in the south-west of the
United States. Jojoba oil contains high amounts of vitamins A, E and D and it
is can be use on all hair types. Although it is more commonly found in
all-natural shampoos and hair products, it is more effective to use it on its
own. Jojoba oil helps to repair any damage that has been caused to the hair and
it promotes new and healthy hair growth.
To
get the best results from any of these oils, using the treatment below is
highly recommended:
i.
Massage a bit of oil that is slightly
warmed or is at room temperature to your roots and scalp. Work the oil down to
the tips like you would do when applying conditioner to your hair.
ii.
Put on a shower cap and let it soak in
for about half an hour
iii.
Wash your hair using an all-natural
shampoo.
