Things to Avoid - POEM

by Akinola Akinkunmi

Things to avoid
Things to avoid
Truth when it becomes problem
Beauty if it becomes vanity
Love when it becomes possessive
Loyalty when it becomes slavery
Self pride when it becomes arrogance
Faith when it becomes self-righteousness

Time
There is time for everything says the book of Ecclesiastes
Time is the only component in existence
Whose speed cannot be controlled by man
Time they say is a vacuum
The value depends on what you put into it
Let those that knows the value use it wisely
Time waits for nobody says an adage

I remembered when we were kids
We used to sing a poem which says
Tick says the clock; tick tick what you have to do, do quick.
To realize the value of one year
Go ask a student that failed a final year exam
To realize the value of one month
Go ask a woman who gave birth to a premature baby
And to realize the value of a millisecond
Go ask an athlete who has won silver instead of gold medal
So let us take time to value our time
