NYSC DG ASSURES CORPS MEMBERS LOAN ACCESS

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig Gen JB Olawumi have assured  corps members across the nation that they will have access ranging from five hundred thousand naira to two million naira, with their certificates as collateral with an interest rate of nine percent payable over a period of three to five years.
            Speaking shortly after his visit to the Oyo State NYSC Orientation Camp, located in Iseyin, Brig Olawumi expressed satisfaction with the good conduct of Corps Members, emphasized that NYSC in liaison with the Federal Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bank of Industry and the heritage Bank to give out loans to corps members who are ready to be self-reliant.
According to him, the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program is designed to turn corps members into job creators rather than mere job seekers.
The NYSC boss who assured that all measures will be put in place to ensure comfortability of corps members while in camp and also implored them to remain loyal and patriotic to Nigeria.
The number one corps members in Nigeria also took time to enlighten the corps members on the need to be security conscious at all times considering the security challenge the country is faced with. Just as he advised them to take advantage of the acquisition and vocational training programmes put in place by NYSC.
Earlier in her welcome address the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo Akin-Moses, who announced that, 2242 corps members were registered, kitted and accommodated at the Orientation camp for the 2015 Batch B stream once exercise.
According to Mrs. Akin-Moses, “Oyo State Orientation Camp is conducive enough with adequate water and electricity supply as well as capable security officials to ensure security of lives and property coupled with interesting programmes to make our stay on camp enjoyable.”
The DG before leaving the camp donated a cow to the corps members and officials on camp.
