NYSC DG PREACHES LOYALTY, COMMITMENT TO NATION

Corps members in Oyo State and the country at large have been called upon to be loyal and committed to Nigeria.
The Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brig Gen. Johnson Olawumi made the call during his visit to Oyo state permanent orientation camp located in Iseyin. The DG urged corps members to avoid the use of derogatory words when talking about Nigeria.
He said “I believe that the country will be better regardless of the slow pace of its growth. The process of change may take some time, but change will definitely happen.”

Brig Gen. Olawumi while addressing the corps members appealed with them to take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program of the NYSC.
According to him, the SAED Scheme was initiated in other to make employers of labour out of corps members and not mere job seekers.
The NYSC boss did not mince words when calling on all and sundry to be security conscious considering the terrorism challenge the country and the world at large is faced with.
Olawumi further advised Corps Members to stay in the places of their primary assignment, “avoid unnecessary journeys and learn the traditions and cultures of the community” so as to be equipped with the right information and solution that will be beneficial to the community.
Earlier in her welcome address, the NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Akin-Moses announced that two thousand two hundred and forty two corps members were registered, kitted and accommodated at the state permanent orientation camp for the 2015 batch B, stream 1 orientation exercise.
According to the State Coordinator, “the orientation camp is conducive enough with adequate water and electricity supply as well as capable security officials to ensure security of lives and property of corps members and NYSC officials with programs designed to make our stay on camp an interesting one.”

The NYSC Oyo State Cultural Troupe did not lag behind as they thrilled the DG, his entourage, camp officials and corps members to various traditional dance steps. The martial art group also was not left out as they displayed their martial skills.
